Var IGP

Var IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) is located in southeastern France along the Mediterranean coast.  Abundant sunshine and a warm Mediterranean climate promote consistent ripening, resulting in wines that emphasize ripe fruit flavors and generous structure while maintaining freshness. The region focuses primarily on red and rosé wines, which account for about 90% of total production. Key red grape varieties include Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault, grapes well suited to the coastal climate and known for producing expressive, fruit-forward wines. White wines are made mainly from Rolle (Vermentino), Grenache Blanc, and Roussanne, offering round textures and aromatic intensity.  Rosé wines are particularly important in Var IGP, typically delicate in style with bright, slightly tart red-fruit flavors, meant to be enjoyed young. While limited in volume, the region also produces a small amount of sparkling wine.
